Korean Bibimbap

Bibimbap is a typical Korean dish based on white rice, vegetables and egg. This dish is eaten in both North and South Korea. Bibimbap mean 'mixed ingredients with rice'.

Ingredients

  • Four tablespoons of sesame seeds

  • A cucumber

  • Two sweet pointed peppers

  • One lime

  • 300 grams of Julienne carrot

  • 300 grams basmati rice

  • Four tablespoons of peanut oil

  • 300 grams of minced beef

  • One tablespoon of sambal

  • Four medium eggs

  • 4 tablespoons of peanut oil

Preparation

Heat a frying pan without oil or butter and toast the sesame seeds for three minutes. Let cool on a plate. Cut the cucumber into slices and then into strips. Remove the stem and seeds from the pointed peppers and cut the flesh into thin rings. Squeeze the lime and sprinkle the carrot and sesame seeds with the lime juice. Cook the basmati rice according to the instructions on the package. Heat half of the oil in a wok and stir-fry the minced meat with sambal over high heat for three minutes. Golden brown and cooked. Heat the rest of the oil in a frying pan and fry one fried egg per person. Divide the rice between the bowls and then the cucumber, the pointed pepper, Julienne carrot and the minced meat. Put the egg on top and enjoy!
