Hibiscus juice

Hibiscus comes from a flower plant and has its origin in the Mediterranean region. The dried flowers are used to make tea or cold juice and it has a cranberry-like taste. This tea is not only popular in North Africa, but also in the Caribbean, South, Central and North America. It has also become known in West Africa, in Senegal the juice has even become a national drink, Bissap. So, you can make delicious tea or a refreshing juice from Hibiscus. Tasty and very healthy. Hibiscus contains a lot of vitamin C.

Ingredients

  • 35 grams of dried Hibiscus flowers (available on the internet, or at some Turkish/Arabic shops)
  • 100-200 grams of sugar (to taste)
  • A liter of water
  • Ice cubes
  • Sprigs of mint

Preparation

Rinse the dried flowers under cold water. Take a saucepan and boil one liter of water. Once the water is boiling, add the dried flowers and remove the pan from the heat. Stir in the sugar with a whisk. After 10 minutes, the taste and color have absorbed sufficiently. Pass it through a sieve and let the juice cool. Serve with ice cubes and mint.

Tip: you can also make tea from the Hibiscus flowers.
